Starting this Sunday, 6/23/19, our summer Sunday worship time will move to 9:45 AM.
“And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself (Luke 24:27, NIV).” Jesus’ resurrection changed everything in life. On the road to Emmaus, after Jesus rose from the dead, He explained how the Scriptures revealed what God was doing through Jesus for us and through us. God’s Word reveals to us all we need to know about life after Jesus’ resurrection and His resurrection life for us.
Earl and Carol Kline are preparing for another trip to Honduras. Those who work with our children took the children shopping to purchase basic needed supplies for the children and families in Honduras. These are items we take for granted that are hard to acquire in Honduras. The children took the task to heart, earnestly and thoughtfully shopping for the right items on the list they were provided. Further story below. Here is the result of their efforts. We thank God for the burden these young children have for others! The children initially went out and shopped. They learned that reading glasses were needed for grammies in Honduras so they can read the Bible and read to their grandchildren. They believed it was important for grammies to be able to read the Bible to their grandchildren. A number of glasses were purchased! The children invited the adults to participate. Their own enthusiasm spurred on others. We learned Sunday that this comes at a crucial time as there has been an outbreak of Dengue fever whch is spread by mosquitos. There is little medical help to treat the expanding need. This is a very deadly disease. More can be read on this at https://www.facebook.com/cristosalvahonduras. Please pray for the people of Honduras, the Cristo Salva mission, and the team that will soon be headed there to minister. Thank you.
Today celebrated the life of Barbara Millett. She was a part of our church fellowship for many years. I will miss her stories of days gone by. I will miss her smile and her laugh. I will always remember how she lit up when someone stopped by to visit with her. I will remember her faith in her God. I will remember how invested she was in family and friends. I give thanks to God for His blessing on her life and how He used Barbara to bless the lives of so many others. She will be missed. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
Due to the slippery conditions forecasted for this morning and for the safety of our members, we are canceling services.
Sunday, February 10, Earl & Carol Kline will be sharing about the work at Cristo Salva Mission in Honduras in our morning service at 10:45 AM. Carol, shown in picture, is the Director of Village Outreach and Development. She has just returned from Hondurus and has exciting news to share about what God is doing there. There will be a fellowship luncheon to follow.
With sadness, due to the forecast of significant snow, church services here will be canceled this Sunday, 1/20/19. On the brighter side, many snowmen will be very happy!
We have about 18 pews that are available to anyone who might want one. There are 10 feet long, 3 feet high, and 2 foot wide. We will probably be getting rid of them by the end of next week (1/17/19). If anyone would like one, please let Pastor Dave know.
Worked the last two days to get the pews out and the new chairs in. It gives a whole new look. Note: The chairs in the very back are the same color as the rest. It is just the special effects our our lighting (lol).
Shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child were gathered Sunday for a prayer of dedication before they were taken to the collection center. Please continue to pray for each child that will receive one of these that they may learn of the incredible love God has for them.
It is with sadness we share that one of our life-long members, Leona Riley has fallen asleep in Christ. She will be well remembered for her years of playing the organ and piano, teaching Sunday School, and serving in many other capacities at HCACC. I will remember her love of the Red Sox, her quick wit and subtle sense of humor. She was a hard worker who invested much of herself into family and friends. I will never forget her quiet gentle way, her faith in God and her love for her Savior. I will not forget the way she exuded grace and love in all she did. I will greatly miss her faithful prayers she offered up each day for those of us on her life. God used Leona to make our lives here a little richer. She will be missed. Her obituary can be accessed at http://www.dolbyblaissegee.com/obituaries/Leona-Riley-2/#!/Obituary
Mark 8:34 (NIV) - Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. This gives a whole new definition to "Cross training." A true disciple of Christ "Cross trains."
Due to 8-9 inches of snow that has just stopped falling, there will be no Sunday services today. There will be services next week with a fellowship luncheon to follow.
With heavy hearts we acknowledge Phyllis "Grammy" Goodwin has fallen asleep in Christ. I cannot wait to see her walking and leaping and praising God on that day when Christ returns. I will miss the way the love God gave her spilled over all those around her. I will miss her unique, infectious laugh. It was impossible not to laugh with her. I will miss singing with her even though others did not fully appreciate our "talent." I will miss seeing her dance in the aisle to "Days of Elijah." I will miss hearing her talk to God. And I will miss always the crazy things we did. I will remember her "Love you" when someone left her home. I will remember her faith in a God who was always faithful to her. I will remember her joy that overflowed to excess at times. And I will remember how much she loved Jesus.
We are sorry to have to announce that we have had to postpone Rev, Roger Brown's sharing with us in music and the Word due to illness. We will announce when this is rescheduled. Thank you for your understanding.
"Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls; all your waves and breakers have swept over me. By day the LORD directs his love, at night his song is with me— a prayer to the God of my life." - Psalm 42:7–8 (NIV)
We will have our annual church picnic this Sunday, 8/20 on Little Sebago Lake after church. Bring a salad, dessert or chips to share. The rest will be provided. Bring a friend as well!
